The Chocolate Box — See’s Piece by Piece #16 — Mother’s Day is in the Bag

Almost four months of tasting See’s Candies has made me a bit of an expert on See’s. Having raised two sons has automatically made me a mother. So today I thought I would combine those qualifications in The Chocolate Box.

Every good son and daughter (or spouse purchasing for said son and/or daughter) should know what goes in their mothers’ personal chocolate box. It is kind of an unspoken test of love, observation and devotion. My family has it easy, they can just read Sugar Savvy to know I favor milk and dark Bordeaux, mocha and raspberry buttercreams and anything that combines caramel with chocolate.

In case your mother has made it harder for you to pick out a box of chocolates than it is for my sons, you might try one of See’s special gift packages.seesmomday

About all that is special about these gift packages is the packaging, but it is charming as long as your mother likes cute cardboard pink and black fake purses. If your mom doesn’t do cute, go for one of the regular white or gold boxes of milk or darks, soft centers or nut or chews assortments. If you don’t even know that, I’d go for the gift certificate. Nothing is worse than being a dark chocolate person and getting a box of milk. Except maybe being a milk chocolate one and getting dark.

See’s special Mother’s Day gift packages include a 10 ounce assortment of chocolate packaged in the “keepsake” purse gift box, a pink cellophane gift bag full of pink foil wrapped milk chocolate hearts, or the “keepsake collection” for those of us with mothers who we owe big time with the purse gift box, the pink hearts in a bag AND a specially wrapped one pound box of assorted chocolates. As for my mother-in-law, I would get her a big box of chocolate lollipops, which is her nightly indulgence. My own mom used to have me bring back a pound or two of milk chocolate almond caramel buds when I visited her.

Comment below and let Sugar Savvy know what your mom’s favorites are. Or, if you’re a mom, let us know yours.
