I've never heared of using Pretelzs everyone I know uses chow-mein noodles, I'm sure they're great either way. I know most people seperate them into little stacks by tablespoon or hand but I find it all to messy so I just mix it all up with a spatchula and put it in the freezer for about 15 min. and cut them into slices or use a stirdy cookie cutter.
Yup Cate, I'm determined to try to have the rest of you gain weight with me =)

You've got far more patience that I do. When the sugar craving hits, I don't think of making things with the chocolate chips, I just eat 'em right out of the bag. :)

haha, Joanna I swear it was a huge and very sad oversight that we had no candy in the house. It's a rare rare thing I tell ya.

I'm sure you could use butter with the Hopscotch Haystacks. I actually tried to thin it out a bit with heavy cream the first go 'round but that didn't do much, and my butter was in the freezer so I just grabbed the shortening. I'm sure butter would work great though. Let me know if you try it with the butter.

Ummm... just one question: What in the name of G-D are you doing without candy in your house? Oh yeah, and do you really need to use vegetable shortning? Anything wrong with good ol' butter?
