Candy Cane Uses - Everything From Crafting to Cookies

Christmas involves far more than just candy canes, but truth be told, for most of us Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without candy canes.  And as much as I love the darn things I always seem to end up with way too many.  Seriously.  It seems like I’ll buy a box, then I’ll be given some here and there until I end up with more than I could possibly eat in my entire lifetime.

So what’s a girl to do with so many candy canes?  I’ve come up with some ideas, and if you’re way more creative than I am (and chances are pretty good that you are.) I bet you come up with even more ideas.

  • Candy canes make great stirring sticks for hot drinks.
  • Crush some candy canes and add them to hot apple cider.
  • For an adult treat, crush candy canes and use to coat the rim of a martini glass and serve Candy Cane Martinis
  • Break up candy canes and drop them into a two-liter bottle of ginger ale. Add this to your punch for a wonderful beverage at your Christmas party.
  • Crush candy canes and sprinkle them on an ice cream sundae.
  • When making brownies, cookies, rice crispy treats or even fudge, add crushed candy canes to the batter.
  • Save until Valentine’s Day and make peppermint hearts by unwrapping two candy canes and placing them together on a baking sheet forming a heart-shape(hook to hook and tail to tail) bake at 350 degrees for a few minutes, until canes stick together.

And of course we can’t leave out one of the most delicious uses of all - Peppermint Bark!
