The Chocolate Box — See’s Piece-by-Piece #48 — Rocky Road
Marshmallows, walnuts and milk chocolate. That’s pretty much all there is to Rocky Road candy. I thought I would try See’s Candies’ version and see if the whole more than equaled the sum of its parts.
Tasting Report
Description: See’s Candies’ Rocky Road can be bought by the chunk at its stores. My pieces were hefty rectangles about two inches by just over an inch. The candy contains large pillows of marshmallow and big chunks of walnut all held together by milk chocolate. The chocolate does go through and through but almost seems more like a covering because of the size of the marshmallows and nuts.
Taste: Rocky Road was tasty. The nuts were fresh and crisp, the honey marshmallows were soft, airy, not too sweet and just gooey and sticky enough. The milk chocolate melded the tastes together well, but wasn’t a big enough presence in the candy. I wanted a big chocolate hit to offset the other tastes and to linger on.
See’s Trivia: You have until the end of December to enter See’s Candies “Twelve Months of Treats Sweepstakes.” You could be the lucky winner of a box of See’s confections every month. Interested? Enter here.

Well Fed Network Rating: As compared to other See’s Candies, Rocky Road earned 5.5 out of 10. Pro: Pleasant with a winning combination of nuts and marshmallow. Con: Not enough chocolate taste.
