Sander’s Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge Sauce
I was so excited when I got the opportunity to taste test HOT FUDGE! Sander’s is a more than 100-year-old company (it was started in 1875) that makes candy, dessert toppings and operates shops in the Michigan area. Their products are available online and at various retailers throughout the country.
I took my time taste testing Sander’s Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge Sauce. Why? Because the first time I tried it was with the truly ew-worthy Turkey Hill Light Vanilla Bean ice cream (the ice cream tasted so artificial that I couldn’t begin to fairly examine the hot fudge).
At first taste (with the gross ice cream), it was very sweet. But it was so hard to tell whether it was the ice cream or the hot fudge that was really making it taste nauseating. See, that’s why I had to give it another chance . . . many days after the first one so that the sickening taste wouldn’t be fresh in my mind (I cannot stress enough how bad the ice cream was).
This time I had the hot fudge on top of a slice of my homemade cheesecake. It was GREAT. Though the Sander’s Milk Chocolate Hot Fudge is a bit on the sweet side after all, I have discovered that it is a great compliment to a less sweet sweet like this cheesecake. When heated (I put a tablespoon-worth in a bowl and microwaved for 20 seconds) it drizzles smoothly and evenly (yay for pretty desserts!). And the taste had a nice depth and richness.
Would I recommend this hot fudge? Yes. But I firmly believe that it’s place is with a less sweet accompaniment. There is a such thing as too much sweet.
