NEWS: Cadbury Schweppes Plans to Sell Beverage Division; Focus on Candy

Cadbury Schweppes is angling to make a move back to their candy-making roots, according to recent news stories. The company, which earlier this year said they’d be seperating their candy and soft drink businesses now says that they will be selling the soft drink side of the business altogether to focus on their candy side. They are also planning to cut 7,500 jobs
over the next four years.

In addition to Cadbury’s well-known chocolate (Dairy Milk, Mini-Eggs, Flake, to name a few), Cadbury’s makes Trident gum and also drinks like Snapple, Dr. Pepper and 7-Up.

Perhaps now they can focus on bringing back their retired candies that were oh-so-good, like the WispaBite (boy, that was good . . . those little biscuit balls in the caramel in the chocolate. Mmmmmm.).

Ooh.. sounds like a good plan they have formed to focus on just candies. Just, I don’t like the “cutting 7,500 jobs in the next four years” part.
Now, I wonder: They are selling that portion of their bussiness, but to who, and would any of their drinks be cut once they are sold over?
