Sugar Savvy

So there I was, flying through the grocery store as fast as I could so that I wouldn’t be late to pick up my son from daycare. While in the checkout line, I took a 10-second glance at the candy rack in case there was something new to catch my eye. Guess what? There was!

Kit Kat, which has been one of my cravings this pregnancy, has a new Kit Kat Caramel variety on the shelves. It’s in the big log format, so there aren’t those delightful breakaparts to enjoy one by one. Nonetheless, I gave it a try.

Unfortunately, possibly due to being one large bar with a formidable about of caramel stuffed in along with the usual crispy wafers, it ends up being much softer than the regular Kit Kat bar. And that, of course, means that it loses the excellent crunch factor. The crunch of a Kit Kat is its calling card, and this just doesn’t have it.

So would I have it again? Probably not. I might try it if they cut back on the caramel and sold it in the traditional Kit Kat format (four little logs). Other than that, I would much rather have the real thing.
