Serendipity 3 in NYC Ordered Shut Down
Although rats and cockroaches in restaurants in no great surprise these days, unfortunately, I gotta say, I was a little surprised when I read the location of the latest ordered shut-down … popular, historic NYC restaurant Serendipity 3.
Just last week the restaurant was making headlines for unveiling a $25,000 dessert (pictured) and now, shuttered. After failing two consecutive health inspections in a month, city health officials closed it down on Wednesday night. Inspectors found a live mouse, mouse droppings in more than one place, flies and live cockroaches. Yuck. “We’re rectifying it as quickly as we can,” said owner Steven Bruce, in a Reuters press release. A restaurant enjoyed by a bevy of famous celebrities (Warren Beatty, Spike Lee, Paula Abdul, Gloria Vanderbilt, Bill Clinton and many more) over its 50+ year history, I’m sure this is just a minor blip on its radar, but I certainly won’t be slurping up their Frrrozen Hot Chocolate any time soon.

Before all this while eating there I had found a live bug (roach, or something) crawling out from under my mashed potatoes! Totally expected this
