Das French Salted Caramels - Cafe Cortado

I was previously pleased with Das Food’s Lemon and Honey French Salt Caramels, so I was delighted to have the opportunity to sample the Café Cortado flavor.

Again, the caramels are creamy, buttery, and slightly greasy. In this cooler weather, they are firm and chewy, but a quick rub between my palms left them quite soft.

The espresso-colored cubes contain visible bits of coffee beans. The first bite is quite sweet, but as the buttery caramel dissolves, you are left with the more bitter flavor of the coffee bits. I rather enjoyed the way this developed. The creamy caramel really complements the coffee flavor.

I found the salt to be a background player here. The initial bite of salt that was present in the Lemon and Honey flavor was missing. Instead the salt serves to enhance the other flavors, which is fine, because I wouldn’t want it competing with the coffee.

Another thumbs up to Das’s salted caramels.
