Reese’s Peanut Butter Whoppers

Reese's Peanut Butter Whoppers
Whoppers have always been one of those candies that I could take or leave. I’ve never been one to buy candy at the movies (I’m more of a popcorn girl), and they’re just not quite chocolaty enough to satisfy a craving for cocoa. Plus, there’s the malt thing. When I was in grade school, malt was just something well-meaning school nurses prescribed to underweight kids in the form of viscous milkshakes (or so certain well-known children’s authors of my youth led me to believe). So no, Whoppers didn’t really do it for me.

That is, until Strawberry Milkshake Whoppers came along sometime in 2006. I picked up a 4-ounce movie-size box, mainly because (a) we like to try every new candy item that comes down the pike, and (b) the idea of pink Whoppers tickled me, well, pink. I was hooked from the get-go. These pale pink beauties are nothing if not addictive. Let’s just say that the next time I purchased them, I bought the 10-ounce carton. And hid them. Not from myself.

So then when I was waiting in the checkout lane at the supermarket the other day, idly checking out the impulse buys and trying to distract my kids from the tabloid-exploited antics of the overpaid and underscrupulous, I saw the most precious little 3.5-ounce cartons of Strawberry Milkshake Whoppers on the shelf next to the racks of candy bars. As I reached for one, I spied its even cuter twin sitting next to it: Reese’s Peanut Butter Whoppers!

Because I hold the Strawberry Milkshake variety in such high regard, I couldn’t see these Peanut Butter Whoppers rocking my world. I mean, sure, they sounded intriguing, but I’d already found my number one Whopper. Or so I thought.

The Peanut Butter Whoppers are, in a word, delectable. In two words, peanut buttery. That is, they really do taste like peanut butter, and they look like peanut butter too. They’re bigger than either the Milk Chocolate or the Strawberry Milkshake varieties, so there’s more to love. And although I was forced to share this container with the rest of my family, I didn’t feel too bad about doing so, seeing as how there are actually 4 grams of protein and some calcium (6% DV) per serving.

Maybe it’s time to give those Milk Chocolate Whoppers another shot … I’m having visions of a candy dish brimful of chocolate and peanut butter spheres. A whopping good time!

I’ll be surely looking for these on my next trip

I tried these two days and ago an fell in love. However Hershey has a bad habit of introducing a candy that I love and pulling.
1. White Chocolate Hersheys with almonds
2. Reese’s pieces with whole peanuts
Will this be the third strike?

Hi Bib,
I hear you! Actually, it’s part of a carefully orchestrated sales strategy, and it works like mad, so unfortunately, these short-lived heartbreakers are likely here to stay (for a period of 8 to 12 weeks). However, there’s hope. Due to popular consumer demand, Hershey’s made the Dark Kisses a permanent item, and occasionally the offerings make a comeback, seasonally in some cases.

My favorite bittersweet bygone? Hershey’s Cookies ‘n’ Mint!!
Thanks for reading!

I need this candy! Why do they have to torment us with limited edition runs? I can already hear the eBayers raking in the dough.

My mom got me some of these for easter and they are addicting. I’m not a huge fan of Whoppers but these I love.

FORGET CAPTAIN CRUNCH PEANUT BUTTER CEREAL.TRU PEANUT BUTTER WHOPPERS IN A BOWL OF MILK.YUMMY DELICIOUS.U SHOULD TRY IT!!!

and it’s worse if you live in the UK. picked up a box of these delights at Walmart last week. so delicious can’t describe. stupidly, didn’t open them till back in UK… BIG MISTAKE. Ok for you guys - you can go get some more; LOTS MORE. i’m now stuck back in the UK. have emailed the website. if we all do that they may become permanent. wish i’d tried the strwberry ones… oh well. jeans still fit at moment, and if i’d stayed any longer, they wouldnt.

I saw these yesterday when I was at the store, and had to grab one. I love them so much that the box is almost gone.

I’ve seen a few of my coworkers with both the strawberry milkshake and the peanut butter whoppers and thought they wouldn’t taste that great since I am not the hugest fan of whoppers. I was at Walmart this weekend and saw the movie theater size boxes of both of these for 88 cents. So, I decided it wouldn’t hurt to try them for that cheap. My husband loves strawberry milkshakes, so I let him have most of the box of those flavor whoppers. Though I loved them. So yummy! Those peanut butter one’s are divine. I could make myself sick on those things they are so great. I hope they don’t discontinue these yummy treats! Another good thing to try are the limited edition strawberry milkshake Oreos. They are very delicious, especially with a glass of milk!
