The Natural Confectionary Co’s Fruit Chews Review

I love trying new candy. So when the opportunity to trade with a fellow candy lover in Australia came up, I knew I had to jump on it. Out of the many treats I received, this small packed of The Natural Confectionery Co’s Fruit Chews was amongst them.
I found the simple and child-like packaging interesting and playful. I didn’t feel bad eating the whole roll as a snack, as it wasn’t very big at 45 grams. I got the Mixed Fruit variety with strawberry, lemon, orange, black currant and raspberry flavors.
Ripe Raspberry: Flavor is mild rather than bold and powerful like Starburst or Hichew. It’s much milder and more “floral” than most raspberry flavors I’ve had. Thankfully, there’s nothing artificial about the flavor, so I don’t mind the mildness too much. The texture is slightly grainy, with a good medium chew.
Succulent Strawberry: This one is much harder in texture, and took a bit of chewing to get it soft enough to enjoy. The flavor is awesome: very fresh, juicy and delicately tasting of ripe, sweet strawberry.
Fresh Lemon: Tastes almost the same at the Starburst lemon. Slightly tart, extremely juicy and a strong lemon flavor. Loved it.
Wild Blackcurrant: If it wasn’t for the flavor descriptions on the outside coating, I would have expected this to be grape. It’s very currant-y with notes of pine, pear and concord grape. It’s slightly tart and really got my saliva going. A really nice representation of black currant flavor.
Juicy Orange: The flavor is not as strong as I expected. It’s quite mild actually as it has only a little zest to it with a tart orang-y flavor that reminds me a little of Tang.
These were fun to try, but I certainly won’t be picking these up over Starburst or Hichew anytime soon.
