Journey to the Land of Magical KitKats

Japanese Kitkats

The school year is starting up, which means many people are getting ready to hit the books again. I’m particularly nervous and excited for this year, not because I’m returning to school, but my youngest sister is. She’ll be starting her junior year of college… in Japan. Yes, Japan, land of the magical KitKats!

It seems that every country, aside from my home country of the Unites States, does fun and tasty things with KitKats. Out of all of them, Japan is the most creative in my opinion. Flavors such as watermelon salt, green tea, red bean, Okinawan black sugar, and fruit parfait are just a sampling of what sort of flavors are cooked up. I don’t know about you, but I’d sure love to try some of them!

So here’s hoping my sister is willing to show some Japanese KitKat love to me! Have any of you had a family member send you interesting sweets from abroad?

My dear friend Aya in Kyoto sends me treats from time to time, including green tea KitKats! Green tea (matcha) is my favorite flavor, and it’s so hard to find in the USA. I hope your sister sends you some fun flavors! I heard there’s a soymilk flavor KitKat out in September!
