Enjoying Guilt-Free Sweet Treats

klondike.jpgEven though the summer months are a distant memory, frozen treats needn’t be.  If you ask my six-year-old son, popsicles and ice cream are for year ’round indulgence.  Unfortunately, that kind of thinking, unless you’re a very active first grader, can get you into trouble.  Unless you read on.  In a recent issue of Family Circle magazine, they highlighted their three favorite treats that you can enjoy … sans guilt.

Breyers Pure Fruit Pomegranate Blends.  With only 40 calories each, these fat-free fruit ice pops won’t derail your diet.  And they provide an antioxidant punch that may help you fend off diseases.  The bars contain 10% of your daily value of Vitamin C, plus polyphenols from the pomegranates.  Grab the variety pack of 12 bars ($3.49) to taste all three of the tropical flavors: blueberry pomegranate, mixed berry pomegranate and mango pomegranate.

Klondike Slim-a-Bear 100 Calorie Bars.  Now chocoholics can get their fix without packing on pounds.  These 100-calorie bars are made with French vanilla or English toffee flavored low-fat ice cream, then coated with milk chocolate.  One box ($4.29) has eight bars - four of each gourmet flavor.

Edy’s/Dreyer’s Slow-Churned Peach Yogurt Blend.  One half-cup serving of this soft, creamy, peach-flavored frozen yogurt ($5.99 per tub) has just 100 calories and 2 grams of fat.  In addition to being a good source of calcium, it contains live and active cultures, which aid digestion.

Just noticed these in the grocery store the other day. I might have to pick some up as alternatives to the “naughty” variety. :)
